Application of cosmogenic 7Be and 10Be in atmospheric environment: A review
Atmospheric cosmogenic 7Be and 10Be serve as sensitive tracers for environmental changes and have important applications in atmospheric tracing and global climate change research. This paper systematically introduces the analysis techniques and application research progress of 7Be and 10Be in the atmosphere. Among them, the current actual observation reports show that the concentration ranges of 7Be and 10Be in the global atmosphere are roughly(0.18~17.10)×104 and(0.20~29.58)×104 atoms/m3, respectively, and the 10Be/7Be ratio is 0.45~4.38. And in the Chinese environment, the average contribution of suspended soil dust 10Be to surface aerosols 10Be can reach 5% to 24%. Based on the distribution characteristics of the two cosmogenic nuclides in different atmospheric environments, this study focuses on exploring their advantages and potential in tracing the physical migration and chemical transformation processes of trace substances in the atmosphere. And detailed the use of the same target sample analysis method for 7Be and 10Be developed on Xi'an Accelerator Mass Spectrometry Center by 3 MV accelerator mass spectrometry to obtain high-precision data of 7Be and 10Be with daily resolution, as well as the latest progress in tracing stratospheric invasion and aerosol transport changes based on this method. A feasibility of using 7Be and 10Be features to study the unique atmospheric transport mechanism in the Tibetan Plateau was analyzed.
